Artificial Intelligence
One of the things you need with an IT Consultant, is someone who tells it to you like it is and that’s what we’re about to do here.

What is AI and what does it do?
OK, that’s two questions!
Artificial Intelligence or AI, is a misnomer, but that’s what everyone is calling it, so… when in Rome.
Currently AI is nothing more than a complex computer program.
Is AI any use?
In some cases, yes.
It’s pretty good at generating pictures, including logo ideas, it can write pretty good content, it can even write some code and the Software Developers we work with, use it occasionally if they get stuck on something. In all of the above, it tends to need human tweaking, but it can be great for ideas.
Is it a threat to humans?
Absolutely. Though that may not eventuate. The risk is that once self learning is properly developed, it may actually become Artificial Intelligence and no one knows what will happen then.
The developers say it will be hard programmed so that it can’t happen, but a self learning program will simply overwrite that code. Imagine something that can self learn and rewrite itself thousands of times per minute. No one knows what it will be capable of.
But there have been doomsday prophets since the beginning of time and we’re all still here, so let’s use it as it is and see where it ends up.
